Cut Away Embroidery Machine Stabilizer 12"x50yd/ 10"x50yd roll, 2.5 oz Roll package Washable Fabric Backing for Machine & Hand Sewing, Ideal for Fabric
Cut Away Embroidery Stabilizer – 2.5 oz, 10"×50 yd / 12"×50 yd Rolls
Keep stretchy knits and high-stitch designs stable from hoop to wash. This cut away embroidery stabilizer is a 2.5 oz/yd², washable fabric backing that provides long-term support under the stitches, resists distortion, and stays soft against the fabric after laundering. Ideal for machine embroidery and hand sewing on T-shirts, polos, hoodies, athletic wear, and any fabric that needs durable stabilization.
Why choose this cut-away
- Built for knits & stretch – Prevents puckering and tunneling on jersey, rib knits, spandex blends, pique, and performance fabrics.
- Holds dense designs – 2.5 oz medium-heavy support keeps small lettering, patches, and full-fill logos crisp through repeated washing.
- Comfortable finish – Soft hand after the first wash; trimmed edges won’t scratch on the inside of garments.
- Production length – Value rolls in 10"×50 yd (≈25.4 cm × 45.7 m) or 12"×50 yd (≈30.5 cm × 45.7 m) reduce changeovers and waste.
- Needle-friendly – Low lint, consistent non-woven backing runs smoothly with common needles (75/11–90/14).
- Wide compatibility – Works with Brother, Janome, Singer, Baby Lock, Bernina, Juki, Husqvarna Viking, and most home/commercial machines.
How to use
- Cut a piece slightly larger than the hoop. Hoop the fabric together with one layer of cut-away (use two layers crossed at 90° for very dense designs).
- Embroider as usual, supporting the stitch area if needed.
- After stitching, trim the stabilizer close to the design with scissors. Do not tear—leave a halo of backing for long-term stability.
- Launder as normal. The backing softens but continues to support stitches after washes.
Tip: For plush or textured surfaces (towels, fleece, minky), add a water-soluble topping on top (sold separately) to prevent stitch sink-in.
Quick chooser: cut-away vs. tear-away vs. wash-away
- Cut-away – Best for knits and stretchy fabrics, dense designs, and items that will be worn and washed often.
- Tear-away – Best for wovens and temporary support for items with light to medium stitch density.
- Wash-away – Best for freestanding lace, sheers, or as a topping on textured fabrics.
